Whoa, Obama and McCain Tied in Georgia!!

Huffpo is reporting a statistical dead heat in Georgia today.

A New InsiderAdvantage / PollPosition survey conducted June 18 of registered likely voters in the November presidential contest shows Sen. John McCain leading Sen. Barack Obama by a single point in Georgia, making the race in Georgia a statistical tie.

Based on an Insider Advantage Poll

McCain: 44%
Obama: 43%
Barr: 6%
Undecided: 7%

With Barr pulling 6%, it's killing McCains advantage

Libertarian Bob Barr, a former Republican Congressman from Georgia, received 6 percent of the vote

African Americans are making a big difference this time around

Georgia is competitive for Obama for several reasons. First, it has a high African-American voting age population (VAP). Second, it has an unusually high percentage of younger voters (18-29). Both of these groups are more in the Obama camp, with black voters already at the 83 percent level and likely to climb.

If the poll includes Barr as the Lib nominee, it should also include Cynthia McKinney as the Green Party nominee.

This is a good reminder (I had forgotten about her myself), and I'd hope the next poll of Georgia includes McKinney so as to tell us exactly how excited we should be getting about the state.  No way she pulls in as many votes as Barr does in Georgia, but she might get enough to make a significant impact in a close race.

McCain will crater by election day (2.00 / 1)

and obama will carry all the states with big black populations using the same formula as the primary.

win with big turnout and big percent of blacks while splitting the white vote.

Obama and dems should start trying to determine what we should do when we win.

Last time we controlled everything it was a disaster.  It lead to the party almost being extinct less than 8 years later.

We've bounced back due to Repub's being even worse.

Let's win with principles that are good for America.
